Alongside Pets

Your privacy.

Alongside Pets LLC, a Washington limited liability company, runs this website and your Alongside Pets account. You can browse our public pages without an account.

MeetYourRescue and FindLostPets are separate services with their own privacy policies, which apply when you use them: MeetYourRescue and FindLostPets.

What we keep

  • Your account: your email, sign-in and security details, and your name and profile image if you sign in with Google.
  • Your pets: what you add to a profile, including a photo, description, microchip details, care notes and vet.
  • Contact details: your phone number and any backup contact. Please add only people who are happy to be called.
  • Sharing: the links you make, who you share with, what you chose to share, and when it was viewed.
  • My clients: the name you enter, your invite, the pets clients share with you, whether you asked us to email you about Teams, which campaign brought you here if there was one, and any feedback you send us.
  • Pet Watch: how far you chose, the ZIP code you enter or, for 1 mile, a spot from your location rounded to about a quarter mile, and when you last opened the list. We never keep your exact location.

We use this to run your account, keep it secure, provide Care Card and see what’s working. We remove location details from photos before saving them.

Cookies

We use cookies for sign-in and security. On our public pages, we also use Google Analytics, which sets its own cookies, to count visits and see how people find us. Google explains how it uses this data. It never runs on pet pages, Care Card links, invites or your account.

We also keep simple visit counts on those public pages without cookies. This website has no advertising trackers. Your Appearance choice stays in your browser.

Who can see your information

Nothing is shared until you choose to share it.

  • Care Card links: anyone with a link can see the details you chose until it ends or you stop it. We keep your links encrypted, so you can view or send them again.
  • Sitters and other providers: they see what you chose, only while your pet is home. You can change this or stop at any time, and you can see when they last viewed your pet’s Care Card. We don’t check who providers are. What you share with them, and anything they keep, is between you and them. Read the terms.
  • FindLostPets: if you start a search, it receives your pet’s description, photo and microchip details, plus your verified email so it can start private match alerts when your search begins. You can change the email address; FindLostPets will ask you to confirm the new one. Sharing a public post is a separate choice and requires its own email confirmation. Care notes and phone numbers stay here.
  • Pet Watch: to show missing pets near you, we send your ZIP code or rounded spot, and how far, to FindLostPets, without your name or account. It doesn’t keep them. Photos in the list load from FindLostPets’ photo host, which sees your device’s internet address.
  • Your household: people you add can see, edit and share everything about your pets. Household members’ first names and phone numbers appear on the household’s links and sitter cards. If someone leaves, the pets stay with the household.
  • Our other services: if you use your account on one, it gets only what it needs to recognize you, which may include your verified email.
  • Companies that work for us: they provide sign-in, hosting, storage and visit counts.

How long we keep it

  • Account information: while your account is active.
  • Pets: deleting a pet removes its details, photo and links straight away.
  • Links: records are deleted 30 days after a link ends or you stop it.
  • Past sharing: you and the provider keep the pet’s name, photo and dates for 2 years. The owner can remove this sooner, and the provider can remove it from their own list.
  • Searches: a small record links your pet to a search, for up to one year while the search hasn’t ended, and 30 days after it does.
  • Pet Watch: until you turn it off or delete your account. Turning it off deletes your ZIP code or spot, and we keep only that you turned it off.
  • Backups and security logs: backups may hold deleted data for up to 24 hours, and security logs may stay for longer under our providers’ retention practices.

Deleting your account removes your Care Card information, but not records held by our other services, so email us if you’d like those removed too. If you’re in a household, pets you added stay with it, and your name and number are removed.
